Format for Seed Registration Protocol

1. Crop Name - Sesame
2. Season/Region - Rainy, monsoon/ major production area of sesame
3. Plot size - 15 ft x 6 rows
4. Check variety - Registered varieties
5. Spacing - Branching type- 15 in x 4 in
    - Erect type- 12 in x 4 in
6. Design - RCB design, replication 4-6 (depend on no of variety)
7. Rate of fertilizer -
  Basal     - Urea- 84 lb/ac, Potash- 28 Lb/ac, T-super- 56 Lb/ac
  Flowering time - Urea 56 Lb/ac

8.  Care & Management
-    Used 80% germinated variety
-    Special making for leveling
-    Making systematic drainage canal
-    Thinning when emerging of normal 6 leaves.
-    Cleaning weed when plants are young
-    Irrigate to field when water is needed at the start and end of flowering time.
-    To prevent sucking and rolling pest
-    For reduce postharvest losses, systematic heaping and standing.

9. Recorded data
50 % germination date
-    Shall be recorded the day of 50% germination among all plants at small plot.                                                                                                                                                                   Flowing date
-    Shall be recorded the first day of flowers are blooms at small plot.
50 % flowering date
-    Shall be recorded the day of 50 % flowering among all plants at small plot.
Plant height (cm)
-    Shall be recorded from plant base to leaf tip for 10 sample plants that can represent the whole research field.
Fruit on first node (cm)
-    Shall be recorded from plant base to first fruit for 10 sample plants.
Side branch per plant
-    Shall be counted number of side branches that must count branches with sound fruit from 10 sample plants.
Fruits per plant
-    Shall be counted number of fruit that must count only sound fruit from 10 sample plants.
Yield from 10 plants (g)
-    Shall be measured seed weight from 10 sample plants.
Plot yield (g)
-    Shall be measured seed weight from the small plot.
1000 grain weight (g)
-    Shall be measured 1000 grain weight from the yield of 10 sample plants.
Oil present
-    Shall be tested oil content present at lab.
Harvesting date
-    Shall be harvested when leaves and stalks are turned green to yellow in small plot.

10.    Calculating yield
                                 No of plant/ac (g) x no of fruits/ plant x 1000 grain weight x no of seed/fruit
Yield (bsk)    =----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                 454 x 1000 x 54
                                 Yield from sample area (g) x 473560
Yield    (bsk)    =---------------------------------------------------------------
                                  Sample size x 1000 x 32
